Both sides of the seal of the hard-sealed gate valve are made of metal material, also known as “metal seat gate valve”. This seal has poor sealing performance, but has high temperature resistance, wear resistance and good mechanical properties. In addition to metal materials, the seals of hard sealing gate valves can also be other hard materials.

Usually hard-sealed gate valves are metal-to-metal seals, and both the sealing surface and the valve seat are metal. The machining accuracy and process difficulty are higher, and it is usually used under high pressure, usually higher than 35mpa. So many times, people refer to hard seals as metal seals.

Equipment selection

The selection of soft-seal and hard-seal gate valves is mainly based on the process medium, temperature and pressure. Usually, the medium contains solid particles or wear or the temperature is higher than 200 degrees. It is best to use a metal-sealed gate valve. Valves with a diameter greater than 50 have a larger differential pressure and take into account the opening valve torque. , When the torque is large, the fixed hard-sealed ball valve should be selected. Whether it is a soft seal or a hard seal, its sealing level can reach grade 6.

The difference between soft sealing gate valve and hard sealing gate valve

Soft seal gate valves generally have very high sealing performance, while the hard sealing performance of metal seal gate valves can be high or low according to requirements; soft sealing requires fire protection, because soft sealing materials will leak at high temperatures, while hard sealing does not have this problem; Seals can often be made at very high pressures, but soft seals cannot; in some cases soft seals cannot be used due to problems with flowing media. Finally, hard seal valves are generally more expensive than soft seals. As for the manufacture, there is almost no difference between the two, mainly the difference in the valve seat, the soft seal is non-metallic, and the hard seal is metal.

Application scope of metal seated gate valve

The metal seated gate valve is suitable for high temperature (≤425°C) with weak corrosive gas and liquid. It has certain wear resistance for steam, heat transfer oil, sewage, petroleum, chemical industry, metallurgy, pipeline, etc.
