Casting process design of Gate Valve Casting
Correct and effective control of casting solidification is the first important condition for obtaining high-quality steel castings. Correct process measures such as: gating system, riser and cold iron, process correction amount, etc. are taken to form a reasonable process plan. Due to the uneven wall thickness of valve steel castings, the principle of sequential cooling and sequential solidification should be adopted to reduce defects such as stress, shrinkage cavity and shrinkage porosity inside the casting.

Technological measures to control the sequential solidification of steel castings
1) Design a reasonable parting position, pouring position and pouring system.
2) The riser is designed at the final solidified part of the casting. While playing the role of feeding, it also delays the solidification of molten steel around the riser, resulting in sequential solidification conditions.
3) During the pouring operation, when the molten steel rises to 1/4 of the height of the riser, pour from the top of the riser instead, which can increase the pressure head of the molten steel and increase the temperature of the riser.
4) Determination of cast steel riser size: the methods include modulus method (determined according to the heat capacity of the casting); volume shrinkage method (determined according to the solidification shrinkage rate of molten steel); ratio method (determined according to the feeding type of the casting) and heat section Circle method (determined according to the thermal pitch circle of the casting). At present, in order to meet the convenient design requirements in the factory, the hot knot circle method is commonly used to determine the size of the riser.
5) Selection of casting shrinkage rate: During the process of solidification and cooling, the volume and size of steel castings will shrink and decrease, and the shrinkage from liquid solidification to solid is generally expressed by the change in length–linear shrinkage ( %).
