Maintenance common sense for stable performance of stainless steel ball valves
1. Before using the stainless steel ball valve, clean the pipeline and the overflow part of the valve body with water to prevent residual iron filings and other debris from entering the valve body cavity.
2. When the stainless steel ball valve is in the closed state, there is still some medium in the valve body, and it is also under a certain pressure. Before overhauling the ball valve, close the shut-off valve in front of the ball valve, open the ball valve to be overhauled, and completely release the internal pressure of the valve body. If it is an electric ball valve or a pneumatic ball valve, the power and air source should be disconnected first.
3. Stainless steel ball valves generally use tetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as the sealing material for soft-sealed ball valves, and the sealing surface of hard-sealed ball valves is made of metal surfacing. If it is necessary to clean the pipeline ball valve, care must be taken during disassembly to prevent damage to the sealing ring and leakage.
4. When disassembling the stainless steel ball valve, the bolts and nuts on the flange should be fixed first, then all the nuts should be slightly tightened, and finally fixed firmly. If some nuts are forcibly fixed first, and then other nuts are fixed, the gasket surface will be damaged or broken due to uneven bearing between the flange surfaces, resulting in leakage of the medium from the valve flange.
5. If the stainless steel ball valve is cleaned, the solvent used must not conflict with the parts to be cleaned and must not corrode. If it is a special ball valve for gas, it can be cleaned with gasoline. Other parts can generally be cleaned with reclaimed water. When cleaning, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the remaining dust, oil and other attachments. If it cannot be cleaned with clean water, it can be cleaned with alcohol and other cleaning agents on the premise of not damaging the valve body and parts. After cleaning, wait for the cleaning agent to evaporate completely before assembling.
6. If you find slight leakage at the packing during the use of the stainless steel ball valve, you can slightly tighten the stem nut until the leakage stops, and do not continue to tighten it.
7. Long-term open-air storage will cause corrosion of the valve body and components, making it impossible to use normally. When the stainless steel ball valve is stored, it should be protected from rain, water and moisture, and the flange cover should be tightly closed. Valves stored for more than 12 months should be retested when in use to ensure stable performance.
